almost forgot to watch this today
glad u came back

I honestly don't know how its called. But it is very effective

Thank you 🙏🏾

Thank you for all your hard work, Maestro!
Thanks for listening
As most channels on sight-reading only talk about theory without REAL sight reading, your channel lets me understand what a real sight reading is, and how good and efficient it can be. Thanks!

I love these czardas
Me too!
I think you get the groove fine in the martellato (which translates to the beginning). Some parts can be swung (e.g. I kinda like it on the stride section, although the eight-note swing is not usually done there). I do note that it helps to play jazz reading those chords (the chromatic connecting phrase, but also bars 8 and 16 e.g.). I keep observing that you have a tendency to favor basic 7th positions in the LH chords, where higher inversions are written, or in this Gershwin case, 9th/11th etc chords, e.g. 5th bar of that last page, I don't think you ever hit the the voicing written there - which makes more sense if you're very accustomed to score reading (i.e. clefs/transpositions mixed) - so makes me wonder?
By the way, I like that the articulation of the main theme is "opinionated" (it avoids the "classical pianist plays Gershwin" pitfalls at least) but if I were to give one tip it would be to equalize the staccato lengths so the "(2)+[3+3+3+3]+(2)" [group] feels more like a 4-against-3. You already had this going very well on e.g. p34 last times through. I feel on the first entry the second note of the melody is too short (both in actual timing and articulation).
👏🏾
Lol. I keep accidentally hitting the forward button to turn the page just to be in time to read the following notes in time. The page turn editing is very diligent and precise, but not how you sight-read :)
Also, like other times, it's the left hand that's doing the creative "completions". E.g. extra dotted rhythms where they aren't, extra chord notes (on the large G-major pedal). Most interestingly you went for different chord positions on the exact same bar where you stopped. I wanted to see whether you'd get the next bar right as well, because both the first two takes you had modfied them :)
Funny how you keep reading the f# in 6th bar before presto as f, due the enharmonic with e# (b half diminished is the sound, so you expect the f, but this is exactly why it was notated as the leading tone e# so you *anticipate* the coming f#). Many "handy" chord repositions in the left hand are probably also unconsciously happening.
Similarly some harmonies (like the augmented chord in bar 4 of last page) seem easy to miss (you missed it every re-read, even the slow one :)). It's great fun to sight read along. In a sense, it's the same brain workout as actually playing, but divorced from the physical challenge. Fun stuff these vids
I am really thankful for your comments! I guess your comments is what I really imagined happening when I decided to do the challenge! Thanks for your focused attention! And yeah, I saw and heard what you mean! Such mistakes happen but then again, in pieces like this one, one can be forgiven for some inaccuracies IF one does everything else right. In any case, it was a complicated piece to read :)
@@WorldOfPiano Sure sure. I'm just admiring all the chops and noticing that we do the same reading mistakes due to abstraction (and, dare I say, de-prioritizing said LH chord positions). In fact, you have played an entire passage with the left-hand registrations reversed the second time around. Which is amazing, because it makes no sense when viewed as a clef-misread (that should cause the notes to be a third off). I bet, like me, you subconsciously know what note is going to sound _melodically_ and find it in the register where your hand is, to an extent regardless of the notation. The pipeline is: notation in, mental expectation of the result, plan to execute the mental representation, act. All very fast and most importantly about 1 or 2 measures anticipated, so any "buffering" spots can be smoothed out.
Oh I got confused because I just commented on the Czery g-minor etude. The octave register thing was over there: 7:41 into ruclips.net/video/CCC2BGKLqNs/видео.html
One of my favorite chaminade pieces. She was a great composer. Very nice sightreading job with this one!
It is an incredible composition indeed! Thanks for listening!
I like the version of zoltan kocsis
Amazing!
please make hr2 video! if you have time :)
eh
Btw, if you want to try something modern, virtuoso and somehow tropical, would highly recommend listening to Radamés Gnattali. One of my favorite composers, not only because we share the same nationality... It's just that Gnatalli is really good. Pieces such as "Negaceando", "Canhoto", "Zanzando em Copacabana", "Carinhosa" etc. Some of them were recorded by Hamelin.
Thanks for your suggestions. I will listen to some things by Gnatalli!
Lecuona has another one very beautiful and easier than it sounds: Crisântemo.
I will check it out! Thanks!
34:05 that would be amazing!
Very impressive!! Thank you for this.
Glad you liked it!
Beautiful interpretation. Bravo !
This makes me want to learn this piece actually, even thought it gets a little bit too much attention in the Liszt repertoire
I think it's very important not to care too much :)
@@WorldOfPiano yeah
@@WorldOfPiano Will you being doing another sightreading month in the future?
@@Medtszkowski Maybe I will. It takes a lot out of me though.. anyway, I am planning a different kind of series starting (probably) next month :)
@@WorldOfPiano wow!! That’s exciting.
That's awesome! Keep it up man! I play Piano since many years so let me tell you, playing this first sight is absolutely incredible 👌🏻
Thank you very much! Wish you best of luck!
this is such a beautiful yet hard piece, respect for your progress!!
Thanks so much!
This is the most lavish, beautiful, complex Etude that exists in this life for me. When you listen to this great piece it makes you travel to another universe. There are no words to describe. I hope you play this tremendous Etude with the maximum virtuosity you can demonstrate. I wish you good luck and concentration, you're going to need it. The two greatest pieces I have heard are Etude Transcendental No.10 performed by Cziffra and Liszt: Après une lecture du Dante fantasia quasi sonata performed by Volodos.👍
Amazing
Gottschalk has a large repertoire of extremely complex pieces for perfect execution. Bamboula, Op.2 is the piece that I particularly like the most. I hope to be able to play it well executed one day. You are one of the best. Keep it up, good health and good luck.
I appreciate your comments! I will certainly try out some other compositions by Gottschalk!
The best versions are by Earl Wild, György Cziffra and you. ruclips.net/video/CKkN9s0OS6A/видео.htmlsi=HCIfPk-vapyk5eRs. It is one of the most impressive pieces ever created. Only a virtuoso executes it correctly. From minute 9:18 until the end you feel something that cannot be explained in words. Amazing👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
It is a piece of impressive difficulty and one of my favorites. I wish you the best and that you play it with virtuosity.
Thank you very much!
I believe at some point you'll be "blessed" by the algorithm ("The Benevolent God") and one of these 30 videos challenge will end up going viral before the end of the challenge.
I really hope that happens
Hi! Great video btw! Just looking at 17:54 had me thinking, day 30 looks fun, do you think you could do the Hamelin/doucet version just for fun instead of the exact original doucet?
I will try to play the original first and then I'll see. Btw where can I find the Hamelin version?
@@WorldOfPiano I tried sending a link but I think you have “block links” set in your channel’s comment section settings
Wow! You can make 3 videos and recording in one day? Do you edit your own videos?
You are a piano teacher?
Yes I am, well mostly I give master classes.
Beautiful
All piano players who have accomplished this should be considered top-notch! Period. Few, even from the Greats, recorded the whole set!
Thanks for your input. I have the same opinion!
@@WorldOfPiano Glad we think the same way...
I heard you in Vienna, Türkenstraße 19, this year, and for me it was one of the best concerts of the spring season. I also loved some of your own compositions you played there. I am really a fan of you so talented yet humble man.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I remember reading your email after that concert. I am celebrating 30 years on stage on October 20th in Ehrbarsaal, Vienna. I will be happy to see you there!
